There is a growing trend among SMBs across geographies and verticals to offload their IT needs to Managed Service Providers (MSP) or IT Service Providers. To remain competitive, service providers have to scale up and offer new differentiating managed services to a large subscriber base. To achieve this profitably, MSPs have to reduce their operating cost while improving operational efficiencies.
The Torres Policy Control solution comprises Torres IP Service Flow Manager (ISFM) appliances deployed at customer premises provisioned and controlled centrally by Torres Service Management Platform (SMP). The solution provides unique features that enable rollout of large scale deployments, personalized services and optimized network operations.
The Policy Control solution is tailored for MSPs and enables
- User authentication and service authorization
- Guarantees bandwidth for business critical applications
- Consistent QoS for hosted services and VoIP
- Comprehensive network visibility that helps identify and monitor traffic per user and service
The MSP could offer in a revenue share mode, third party services such as SaaS in a controlled manner with QoS. Bandwidth management as a new revenue generating service could also be offered for third party services.
In addition to the Policy Control solution, Torres Networks offers professional services to MSPs for subscriber and market analytics and service package definitions to help increase the efficiency of their sales and marketing campaign.
Customer Premises Equipment
The ISFMs are deployed as CPE between the LAN and firewall. MSPs can adopt a pay-as-you-grow model that reduces upfront CAPEX. ISFM with 10, 50 and 100 Mbps throughput is supported to meet medium to large business customer requirements as well as MSP data centre needs.
Network Monitoring
Reports for the service provider and end customer provide complete visibility into the network. A suite of reports on bandwidth usage and data downloaded/uploaded in near real-time is provided. These reports provide granularity at application and subscriber level.
Traffic Prioritization and Shaping
Traffic prioritization based on multi-tiered policies is supported for application and subscriber traffic. Provisioning could be done per ISFM or centrally through the SMP. The centralized policy based provisioning reduces labor costs and helps scale MSP operations.
Authentication and Authorization
AAA procedures based on RADIUS and DIAMETER protocols provide a highly scalable model not limited by LAN configurations at the customer premises. Customer specific policies are set on successful authentication. The solution also supports rating and charging services in-line with procedures followed by telecom operators.
Differential Charging
A long-tailed model requires MSPs to offer a suite of services to their business customers. These services need to be monetized. The solution monitors traffic sessions, generates accounting triggers, and consolidates the data into CDRs. These CDRs enable differential charging and billing.
Subscriber Portal
Customers demand complete visibility to their subscription and many would like to manage their subscription too. Torres Subscriber Portal is an end-user centric web care tool that supports subscription management as well as purchase and provisioning of new services. The portal helps sell new services as well as reduces provisioning cost for the MSP.
Operator PortalA single interface to manage customer accounts, set bandwidth policies and monitor the ISFM appliances helps MSPs stay in control of their network and reduce manpower cost resulting in improved profitability.
Subscriber and Market Analytics
Torres subscriber and market analytics services provides intelligent analysis of usage patterns of managed services and WAN traffic which helps to identify high potential prospects. This translates to better prospect to customer conversion ratio. The market research and pattern analysis helps the MSPs build a well packaged services solution. |
