Rating & Charging Server

Flexible plan offerings through a robust rating engine
Policy Control Server

The Torres Rating and Charging Server is a carrier grade online and offline charging engine that supports both pre-paid and post-paid rate plans. It is a vendor agnostic platform that integrates with a variety of network devices (DPI, gateways, BRAS etc.) and as well as with OSS/BSS functions such as policy servers (PCRF), subscriber and rate-plan databases.

The Rating and Charging Server is 3GPP compliant and supports the Gy diameter interface. It is also network agnostic, supporting 2.5G, 3G (HSPA, EV-DO), 4G (LTE, WiMax) and wire-line (DSL) deployments. Its unique Multi-MessageTM architecture enables prioritized queuing and scheduling of incoming messages for intelligent and fast policy actions in real-time.

Key Features

  • Real time online (OCS) and offline (OFCS) charging
  • Charing records are either sent as Gy messages or as CDRs
  • Interoperates with any standards compliant GGSN or DPI receive rating triggers for metering
  • Enables rating for multi-tiered plans and value added services (VAS) for over the top use
  • Integrates with network infrastructure to meter bandwidth consumption
  • Integrate with app-store infrastructure of the service provider to meter downloads/purchases
  • Fast carrier deployments enabled by 3GPP standards compliance and seamless integration with network and OSS/BSS elements
  • GUI driven XML based provisioning engine
  • SNMP based network monitoring and management interface; standard JDBC database interfaces
  • Carrier grade performance with high availability configurations

Benefits

  • Torres' Rating & Charging Server gives operators the ability to implement a range of pricing plans, rate bundles, discount offers, promotional rate plans and service bundles to their users. New pricing plans can be linked to subscription plans, allowing your organization to offer new services and bill for them appropriately.
  • In today's world, common customers are requiring more complex rate plans. One subscriber may have multiple accounts which are concurrently in use. Dynamic options such as add-ons and bandwidth on demand require robust rating engines, capable of offering rapid and transparent customer billing.
  • Traditional rating engines are one-dimensional. They work in number of transactions. Torres' next-gen Rating & Charging Server reflects the change in customer habits. It scales with each user, tracking the user's multiple devices as a single account. This helps operators simplify records and optimized network traffic.
  • Operators needs the ability to make new plans and change them on the fly. Rating and charging needs to be reflected instantly. An operator's rating engine needs to be able to handle these new types of plans, quickly and easily, without worrying about getting the billing team together with the IT team to make sure the new plan will work.
